Do NOT talk to the other driver

November 25, 2014 by Jonathan Stein

It is everyone’s instinct to want to talk to the driver of the other car. Maybe you want to apologize. Maybe you want to ask them what they were thinking when they ran a red light. Maybe you just want to yell at someone and they are the only person around. Don’t do it.

Nothing good will come from this. Ever. Do not talk to the other person. You have insurance and they, hopefully, have insurance. Let the insurance take care of it. It may seem rude to just exchange name, address, phone number, insurance information and move on, but that is what you should do. Get the information you need and then get on your way, get your car towed, or go to the hospital. Any further communication will be bad.
