I saw another Progressive Insurance ad on the television yesterday so I decided to try a little test. After all, you come here and read this for my opinion on insurance and insurance matters. I figured I would save you a little time and effort and see if they really do give you the service that they promise.
I entered the information I have for my vehicles. It took about 10 minutes, which is not that bad for a quote. They gave me a quote, and then they gave me the option of answering a few more questions to get comparison quotes. So, I did it.
Not surprisingly, Progressive came out the lowest. They also gave me quotes for State Farm, Allstate and Farmers. I have quoted these companies before and I knew they would be higher. However, I also know there are two companies lower than the Progressive quote, including my current insurer. Interestingly, Progressive did not quote these two companies.
My opinion: it is kind of an interesting tool, and if you think Progressive may be the lowest for you, give it a shot. It is worth the 10 minutes. But do not believe that they are giving you the absolute lowest prices for their competitors. You still need to do your own homework.
