I have written before about the Department of Insurance’s plan to offer affordable auto insurance. California law has expanded a pilot program from LA and San Francisco to 9 other counties. Now, Mr. Garamendi wants to expand the program more according to the RecordNet.
I think affordable car insurance is great. But, I am concerned that this program keeps spreading without someone looking at more alternatives for making car insurance affordable. For instance, maybe someone should check the insurance companies rates? While they do not make the profits of the oil industry, they are making a killing. People should not be misled into thinking that this policy will protect them. All it does is make it legal for them to drive.
