I was reading an interesting article today from New York. Some New Yorkers want to have access to sample quotes from the Department of Insurance. In California, we already have this. While I am not a huge fan of the California Department of Insurance, if you go here you can find their market surveys. While these surveys will not give you all of the information you need to pick out your auto insurance, they will give you an idea of who you may want to call.
New this year, the Department has added contact information for most of the insurers. Insurers are now required to provide a toll free number or a website where you can get a quote or be referred to a local agent. Again, this is not a complete list, but its a good start for most people.
