California Debt Blog: Update your will or trust

March 28, 2014 by Jonathan Stein

This is completely off topic, but the point of this blog is to make sure my readers are protected. It has always been about education, with a little fun thrown in on the side. Well, today is all education.

In the last two weeks, I have had two friends lose family members. Neither of them was old. Neither of them had a will. I also had a friend who had a medical issue come up that could have been serious.

If you have kids, you need a will. If you own a house, you need a will. If you have property, you need a will. If you want to protect your heirs, you need a will.

Okay, some of you may need a trust. But, at the very minimum, you need a will. A will can protect your heirs from having fights over what to do with your estate. It can detail your final wishes. It can make sure that people know what you want after you die.

Please, if you do have a will, update it. If you do not have a will, get one. If you are unsure of how to find a lawyer to help you, call or email my office.
