ABCNews reported on Debt Collectors Gone Wild. I picked it up from Bud Hibbs’ blog (which I am linking to on the side as well.) For those of you who do not know, Bud may be the country’s number one authority on debt collectors. I read his website on a daily basis!
This report “found many unscrupulous collectors routinely ignore the law.” Scary, isn’t it?
Read the report and then tell me what you think. This report is why I tell people to call an attorney for a consultation IMMEDIATELY upon receiving a letter or phone call from a debt collector. An attorney can advise you if the debt collector is ignoring the law, as is common, not just from this report, but from my experience as well. And remember, in California, you may have even more protection!
