The Department of Insurance is expanding the low cost auto insurance program that I have discussed to 16 counties by the end of the year. This is excellent news. The policies can be had for $400 if you are a good driver and meet the requirements. Anyone who is uninsured should look into this.
Incidentally, the Department of Insurance estimates there are 3,000,000 uninsured drivers in California. That number is probably about half the real number, but it gives you an idea as to why you need to protect yourself with uninsured motorist coverage!
