In what I think is a great announcement for California homeowners, Foremost Insurance announced that they will be writing dwelling policies in California. I dont have the specifics, but this cannot be a bad thing. More competition is good.
Foremost announced that they will insure some people who would otherwise have a hard time getting insurance. Foremost said “The program is designed for individuals with lower-valued homes, “fixer-uppers”, customers with a history of multiple losses, vacant homes or homes under renovation, seasonal homes, homes with more than one family unit and landlords looking for coverage for rental properties, among others. ” These are people who usually have a hard time getting insurance.
Foremost is a good company to offer this coverage. Foremost is a specialty insurance carrier providing coverage for mobile homes, motor homes, travel trailers, motorcycles, off-road vehicles, boats and collectible autos. I handled some mobile home claims for Foremost. While not the best insurance carrier in the world, you can do worse. And, for some people, it may be the only choice for certain types of properties.
